Once, when I was in college, I was hanging out with some friends and one of their friends was supposed to join us but was running late. When she arrived, she explained that she had had to reroute her trip because a man was staring her down in a reflection in the window the whole ride and she needed to get off somewhere she felt safe, and then turn around, but she was so upset that she got lost. It was the first time I appreciated how terrifying and common things like that are, and so I stayed up very late and wrote a song about it.
